Our story begins in November 2014 when Ron was admitted to hospital after a couple of visits to the doctors feeling extremely fatigued and could hardly walk and had slurred speech. He had a very active life, working, helping his mother and father in-law with D I Y jobs and being dad to our lovely daughter Chelsea and of course running after the number 14 bus. To see Ron ruduced to this was a shock to the system. He spent about a week in hospital where a numerous amount of test were done along with a lumbar puncher. The doctors were a little stumped and discharged him. After a couple of months he had follow up appointments with the consultant being sent for numerous blood tests resulting in non conclusive. This went on for two years in which he was made redundant from his job due to health and safety issues as he was a printer for a local print company. This added a further strain and not knowing what was causing Ron's symptoms made things difficult. During the course of the second year Ron began to loose his voice so much so that his consultant referred him to London where he was again admitted to hospital in which he was kept in for two weeks. During his stay the doctors spoke with him about the chance he had MND. This was certainly a shock. After another run of tests and another year Ron was finally diagnosed with MND in May 2017.
Ron has kept a very active mind despite of his diagnosis. He continues to get involved with fundraising for the MND association through art which is his passion. As the condition has progressed he is now doing digital art to enable him to continue. This year he launched his own slogan #artforMND in which he creates T-shirt designs and uses them to raise money and awareness for MND
